I’m an U.S. Air Force Security Forces Veteran turned Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputy. I’ve been working for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office since 2014 in multiple assignments/specialties such as Dispatch, Jail, Patrol, Training, Tactical and Community Service. I could not ask for a better community to serve and protect than the hard working, down to earth, caring and downright strong citizens of Lincoln County. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world and experience many different ways of living and thinking, I’m proud to say that of all those places I call Lincoln County home!
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m married to Heather Hutton and we have two sons together, Conor Hutton age 14 and Alton Hutton age 3 months.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Active duty USAF Security Forces Veteran of 6 years and a full time Deputy Sheriff of Lincoln County. I love the endless opportunities to help those in my community as well improve myself as an Officer through better understanding different life situations. Every day I’m greeted by first name by many citizens of Lincoln County, it’s that closeness that makes living and working here different.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Gotta give a shout out to the Moose Roost Roost in Hugo and Oscar’s Bar and Grill. Super nice people who genuinely care about the community.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I’ve lived and worked here for approximately nine years.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I would have to narrow that down to Maye Gene Lee of Hugo. I can’t tell you how many stories about our County she has dating back many years. Always an interesting conversation!
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Favorite movie is Titanic… I’m somewhat of a hopeless romantic.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Don’t be afraid to take the harder path in life, I’ve found that the roads less traveled are full of interesting and complex ideas and people. Life is far too short to give anything less than 100% in what you do.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Moose Roost due to it’s history of being not only a bank but a mint at one point, on the wall they have a bill printed from Hugo. Walking in there is like a time machine and you can feel the history.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Don’t laugh but I’d pick Stone Cold Steve Austin! That guy was and is a huge inspiration to me and I’ve challenged myself to be as hardheaded as him… In a good way of course. Definitely would hit up South Side by the way.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
There are many favorite things but to speak on just one, I’d say being able to go anywhere and be accepted. Everyone is always willing to help out and it seems like you’re never really alone
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Here in Limon still working for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office but hopefully promoted and working my way to Sheriff at some point!
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that at one point I entered into a training camp to be a Professional Wrestler!
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Sheriff Tom Nestor, 10 out of 10 easy! Love working alongside him and carrying out a vision I think we both share.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My late Father, George Alton Hutton. There is not a day that goes by I don’t not only think if him but strive to make him proud.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Peace, Community, Comfort
