Hello! My name is Johnny Miranda and I am originally from Tucson Arizona. I moved to Denver in August of 2019, graduated from preaching school in May of 2021, and accepted a full time job preaching with the Limon church of Christ.
I grew up in a competitive home playing sports, board games, video games, and anything that involves winning. I enjoy taking my dogs out for walks in the community and I enjoy meeting other pet owners! I enjoy cooking and bringing a smile to others through cooking.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My family and I are scattered at the moment. My father lives in Hermosillo Sonora, Mexico, and my mother lives in Tucson Arizona. I have two older brothers. My oldest brother lives in Albuquerque NM, while the other brother lives in Fort Worth Texas. I am the middle child at 26 years old. I have two younger sisters, and they both live in Tucson AZ.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Before arriving in Limon, I was living in Denver CO as I went to school full time to learn the Bible and learn how to preach. I lived there for two years and graduated from school in May of 2021. I am currently preaching full time with the Limon church of Christ. I arrived in Limon August of 2021 when I accepted the role to preach for the church. I am thankful for the church and the opportunity to be part of the Limon community. What I love most about preaching is being able to share with others what Jesus has done to save me. How Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. That through Jesus, they can come to the Father and the Spirit.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Oscar’s Bar and Grille, Jenny’s Mexican Food, and La Posadita.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have been here since August of 2021.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
One of the most interesting people I know has to be Donna Metcalf! There is so much she does behind the scenes that amazes me. She is determined and does a fabulous job at serving others.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Growing up, I enjoyed watching Shrek on repeat with my siblings. We also had many tv shows we watched together like SpongeBob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Jimmy Neutron.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
You don’t need to walk life alone! I know scars are created when we are hurt by those whom we love, but not every person is going to treat you bad. Find those who you trust and call family.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Having the two Mexican restaurants in Limon since I grew up in southern Arizona.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
My dear friend Eric who lives in Mongolia. I met Eric during my time in preaching school and he and his family are special to me. Since they moved back to Mongolia when they finished school, I miss getting together and sharing our different but also similar cultures. Eric loves Mexican food so I would have to take him to get tacos.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
How involved we are in each other’s lives! I love being able to say hello to someone at the store knowing that I have seen them around.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself continuing to preach God’s word and being a Christian wherever I am at.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
That I went to culinary school.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A medium ribeye steak
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My Lord Jesus
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Faith, Family, Friends
