I grew up in Lakewood, Colorado and graduated from Colorado State College UNC. I began my teaching career in Westminster, teaching junior high home economics. Over the 15 years I taught school I also taught 3rd and 4th grade, journalism, business and a very short career as a girls physical education teacher and track coach.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have three sons. Eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I taught school at Agate and Genoa for a total of 15 years. Then I worked in various roles at The Limon Leader for 15 years. I now have the best job in town as librarian since 1999 at the Limon Memorial Library.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I am enjoying Alex Taverna and IHOP.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I began working in Limon in 1985 at The Limon Leader.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Chuck Stone. He always had a great story to tell and was one to give all for his community.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner with Spencer Tracy and Kathryn Hepburn.

Plain Hershey bar

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Gaskill’s Department Store. Jim was the best.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Our sense of community. We take care of those around us.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Retired and enjoying my grands!

I have a great nickname. One I want to live up to everyday: Hap or Happy
